I don't know if anyone has been following the auction of a slide on ebay,
but here is one for the books.
On Sat., a colored slide of Gas Electric #9768 at Campstool, WY in
September, 1969 sold for $355. That's right, $355 for the slide only, oh ya,
shipping was FREE!
Am I missing something or what? Can anyone explain why 10 bidders drove up a
single slide of this gas electric to $355? The seller stated that it was the
last run as the Q lost the mail contract.
Now I have about 200 slides I took of Q equipment in the 1960's- 1970's, I
guess I could retire again!
The seller immediately removed the slide after the item closed on ebay,
guess he did not want people coping it. If you are interested in the
details, it can be seen at ebay item 300079703919, but not photo of the
slide.
The winning bidder was "cheeseheaddad", if he is on this list, would be
interested in knowing what caused this to be so valuable.
