And so it ever was.
In the early 60's when there was still some semblance of passenger service
by the railroads, a snowy or foggy night would bring the "unfaithful" traveling
public to LaSalle St. Station to ride Rock Island No. 9 or 39 to Omaha or
Kansas City.
Bringing with them loud laments as to the lack of suitable accommodations on
trains whose consists had been decimated by lack of patronage.
I thought that I heard No. 6 whistling coming into Lincoln around mid
afternoon today, but didn't connect it with the recent Denver
Difficulty......That's how disconnected I am these days.
