Volume 5 Number 2 of The Prospector had numerous photos of foreign
sleepers (and consists) of foreign road sleepers on the
CZ. (www.drgw.org). There is also a table of appropriate models for
the cars (as available in HO from Walthers and other manufacturers).
Note that the 10-6 SILVER RAPIDS of the PRR is not considered a
foreign road sleeper - until after the transcontinental service was
canceled (and then after that date it got the black roof and the
PENNSYLVANNIA on the train name board).
There were many more photos than there was space available in that
short article. A lot depends on era, and season - and where in the
year you want to model (or the information). Other outside forces
also have a lot of weight - the air carrier strike, coal strike,
conventions, wars, troop movements (yes, the CZ was used as a troop
train), weather, weather on other railroads, etc. If there is
trouble obtaining the issue, retailers may still have copies of it,
and if there is enough interest, the issue may be reprinted. If
specific cars are of interest (or roads) you can contact me off list.
