List,
I just added to the photo section (in an album appropriately
entitled "John Lewis) a shot of a waycar lettered CB&Q 13690.
Obviously in primer, I took the picture from the eastbound Illinois
Zephyr on Wednesday, 4 Oct 06. The appearance of the car is
unchanged from when I last saw it this past March.
The interesting thing about this waycar is that is doesn't appear to
be a maintenance of way modified car (no air conditioner, windows
still there, etc) unlike the wide vision waycar on display in
Galesburg.
The Holbrook/Lenz book "Waycars of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy"
indicates that 13690 was built as the lead car in Class NE-13B by
Morrison in August of 1969.
Can anybody on the list shed any light on the history of this car?
Burlington regards,
John Lewis
