Back in May 1919 the Rock Port Langdon and Northern's original coach
became, in the words of agent L.R. Wasser in a message to my grandfather, Pete
Hedgpeth" at Alliance, NE
"we are the same as out of business with the old coach have pulled the north
end out and are pushing it from Langdon and as the Waycar seemed to be the
handiest and quickest available I asked Mr. Card (Q Supt. at St. Joseph, MO) to
send it.
Mr. Card had advised that "all we have to spare is comb way car 3943 which
we can let you have temporarily if suitable."
I don't know whether the RPL&N ever made use of the comb way car 3943, since
my GF purchase Colorado Midland Combination Car No. 10 shortly thereafter,
but I'm wondering what kind of WAYCAR the 3943 was and its final disposition,
or perhaps it"s still extant.
Thanks
Pete Hedgpeth
