Subject: [CBQ] New Member-Introduction

I'm been a member of this list for a few weeks and realize I haven't
introduced myself.

I've lived in Wisconsin for most of my life, but was born in
Aurora,IL, in 1953. Frequent visits to relatives in Aurora during
the late 50's and 60's gave me the opportunity to see a lot of CB&Q
action, and I ended up riding several CB&Q trains over the Chicago-
Denver mainline in the late 60's.

Before I was born, several members of my family worked, for short
periods, for the CB&Q, including my Dad (in the Aurora Shops during
World War II), an uncle (a brakeman on the Aurora area branchlines
during the 40's) and my Grandfather, who spent several years with
the "Q" in Aurora during the 1910-1930 period.

My mother's first train ride was out of the old Aurora depot, to
Hannibal,MO in 1917, and my Dad, as a boy, witnessed the
construction of the elevated tracks through Aurora, and the "new"
station being built during the early 1920's.

My Wisconsin memories of the CB&Q include seeing passenger and
freight trains along the Aurora-Twin Cities mainline, between
Prairie Du Chien and LaCrosse. I currently live about 100 miles east
of this important BNSF main today.

I've been enjoying reading the various posts of CB&Q history on this
list.
