FYI to any of you that may be interested in CB&Q or Zephyr related
art work. I am not a dealor, vendor, or manufacturer. It does not
matter to me if anyone is or is not interested in this product.
My wife found a reproduction metal sign for me yesterday that has
the likeness of the 1936 Denver Zephyr rolling through an orange
grove. The black rectangle of the BR herald has been whited out so
that the herald consists only of the red frame around the whited-out
rectangle. The sign states "Ripe-N-Ready.
Oranges*Grapefruit*Tangerines. Distributed by Fresh fruit
Distributors, Los Angeles, Calif.". The reproduction must have been
based on a weathered original, beacuse the repro includes "rust
spots". It was only $8.
The sign is made (or maybe imported) by the Lyon Home Gallery. I
found them on the net at www.lyonco.com. You can view the sign
under "lyon home gallery/view products/orange crate/orange crate
collection/ripe N ready".
She found it at a store called The Country Sampler, which is located
in Lake, Zurich, Arlington Heights, and Naperville, IL. I think that
I will keep her (and the sign too).
FYI only.
