Hello everyone,
I have a couple of questions concerning the longevity of the
Everywhere West/Way of the Zephyrs paint scheme on class XM-33 50ft
single door boxcars. These cars were numbered in series 21000-21399,
22000-22329 and 22300-22499. A prototype photo can be found at:
http://www.steamfreightcars.com/gallery/boxauto/cbq50ftaarmain.html
I'm modeling the early 1970s, and by 1973 these cars had been rolled
into series 21000-22899. Would any of these cars still have their
original paint, or a repaint in the same scheme, by 1973? There
were five cars from this series restricted to hide loading; would
they be more likely to have the older paint scheme than cars in
general service?
Thanks,
Mark Heiden
