If you look closely at photos of Q MoW equipment you will note that
some had stenciled the 'gang' they were assigned too such as LaCrosse
Div. B&B, Paint #2, etc.
A good project for someone with time on their hands (but would need
cooperation of mbrs with pics of MoW equipment) is to list which car
#'s and types were assigned to what gangs & in what approx. yrs. i
have quite a few slides of Q MoW equipment and need to get after
myself to make up such a list from my own collection. I file them by
car type (bunk, tool, etc - which incidentally was labeled on many)
but in the process I am breaking up the 'sets'; i.e. I took pics of a
string of cars on a siding which presumably were assigned to a gang.
