Do not have any information about these particular
cars but have a general comment.

Topic of Ex CB&Q baggage/express cars in M of W
service was brought up recently. Have done a fairly
intensive search of the Railroad, all the places that used
to collect M of W equipment. Bottom line is that with the
exception of ballast cars, flats, and plows and dozers
there is just nothing. Found a couple of gons and a few
Ex AT&SF box cars. All the outfit and tool cars are just
plain gone.

Ties are being handled in old open hoppers or flat bottom
coal gons.

Plenty of diesel fuel moving around but all in fairly modern
cars or in Ex fuel tenders which are of GN or NP heritage.

Have noticed that the trend now is to sell old equipment
"as-is, where-is". Rather than moving in train service to
scrap yards the scrappers just cut things up where ever
they have been collected. Of course this makes perfect
sense. Hauling bad order cars around the country does not
make any money and with the FRA's current interest in the
minimal movement of bad orders this is really the only way
to go.
