Mid-Continent Railway Museum at North Freedom, Wis., was donated a CB&Q
waycar from the estate of a deceased member. I assisted in stabilizing the car
with new roofing over this past weekend, but the waycar needs some tender,
loving
restoration care.
No. 14006 has a 28-foot body, three windows and a side door on each
side, and a cupola. It is of wood construction, and is similar to cars at
Colorado Railroad Museum.
Restoration of the 14006 to exhibit status is a low priority right now
unless somebody new takes this historic Burlington waycar under their wing.
It came to the property as a camp car for its owner to stay in. It needs new
platforms at both ends, some siding to be replaced, and re-installation of
draft gear.
Mid-Continent will be happy to accept donations toward its
restoration; much better would be a party who would donate time and effort to
its
restoration. Mid-Continent invites BRHS members who want to help preserve a
piece
of Burlington history.
