Sorry for the late post. I am just getting caught up. I don't know if 
it will work in your situation, but I remember an old trick that I 
heard years ago, but never had occasion to try myself. Apply the 
masking tape as tight as possible. Then, spray the car with a clear 
coat, paying particular attention to the tape edges. After the clear 
dries, apply the stripe color. The clear will have seeped through any 
gaps in the masking tape, sealing them, and the stripe color will be 
prevented from seepage. Finish the car with a clear coat to blend 
everything in.

As for decals, I trust you are using Solviset (sp?) or some other decal 
setting liquid when you apply ing your decals. That usually works for 
me even on very uneven surfaces.
