Zephyr Rocket was inagurated on Jan 7, 1941 on the shortest route between the
Twin Cities and St. Louis. Travel time was about 14-1/2 hours.

Equipment for the ZR was provided by both railroads. Each rr provided a
locomotive, a baggage car, a mail/baggage, one streamlined coach, and one
sleeping
car. On the rear of each train was a dining/parlor/obsv. car supplied by the
RI.
