Does anyone know if the Old Ben mine No. 21 was the home to Old
Ben's EMC Model 40 switcher? There is an HO scale Model 40 coming
from MDC/Roundhouse labeled for Old Ben Coal. Jay Reed, Author of
several books on industrial switchers told me it was his
understanding that the Model 40 worked the Old Ben mine around
Sesser, IL. From BB No. 35 it appears that would be Old Ben No. 21.
Anyone familiar with the coal fields remember anything about a
little EMC Model 40 running around one of the mines?
