I would think the Ordinance Plant @ Proving Grounds (N of Savannah,
IL) would also be a good bet. They published a history book there
when the place closed a few yrs ago but no coverage of the rail ops
much less a map but there was a lot of Q RR action there at one time.
I plan to spend some time there over Xmas break doing research - any
one on this list have contacts or info for the facility? (now an
industrial park). Camp Grant near Rockford was also served by the Q
(and is now an industrial park) but was training, not munitions mfg.
The Army historically used what by many standards would be considered
outdated rolling stock (Navy & Air Force too for that matter).
However some was in captive service so not worn out as much as one
might think considering their age.
