You might like to add that the Silver Star is still around and on the
other side of the world. It was a gift from Amax Iron Ore Co to the Mt
Newman Mining Company in Australia in 1974. Part of the lounge area was
converted to sleeping berths and used as passenger accommodation on the
"Sundowner" weekly supply train to the iron ore mines.
It has since passed into the ownership of BHP Billiton Iron Ore. The
Sundowner still runs fortnightly, and the car is also used on VIP and
inspection trains.
