Tom,

Chlorine is used by paper plants for bleaching paper.
I'd say most likely place to see these cars in the 60's
on CB&Q would be on 97Sav out of Willis Yard or on #81
Savanna to Dayton's Bluff.

Do not think CB&Q had any significant mail business
Chicago to Minneapolis/St Paul. Certainly not enough for
a dedicated train. CMStP&P had the major contract and
IIRC did operate a mail train on that route.

Thought I'd post this to the group first: On my layout I have quite
a few of the Atlas 11K, 17K, and 23K gallon tank cars. Maby of these
are compressed gas cars stencilled for carrying Chlorine. My
  questions are:

Were there any industries serviced by the Q that would have used
  large amounts of Chlorine?

What industries primarily use Chlorine that need it shipped by
  railcar in such large quantities?

  Tom Mack
