I would also like to know more: I would only be interested in this if
they were actually going to have accurate toolings of the prototypes.
In this day and age with all the modern engineering tools available
it can be done - and probably today it can be done at a reasonable
profit. There is quite a market for accurate renditions of these cars
at reasonable prices. The brass market is way out of line with people
asking 5, 6 and even 8 thousand dollars for 10 and 12 car sets.
Asking 60 per car for accurate models would get quite a reception in
my opinion. However just taking inaccurate toolings from another
roads cars - as has been the practice for years in the non-brass
market - and slapping on inaccurate california zephyr labeling will
probably doom their offering. Walthers cars seem to have suffered
this fate as they are not even close to burlington prototype in most
instances. Of course if matching prototype is no big deal then the
Walthers cars are fun to run and when used as a set - not mixed with
other cars - operate well.
