Subject: employee unions of 1930's-19050's
11 January 2004
Gentleman,
I see from your FAQ page that no employee records are available. Does there
exist however the name of the
trades union that represented the Black Cooks who worked the Burlington
Route?
Both my father and uncle worked the California and Denver Zephyr. I'm now
trying to find through their
union some surviving memorabilia that may include photos. Family records
were destroyed some years
ago including photos.
I can still smell the oily steam in Chicago's union station and hear the
cacophony of sound in the vestibule
between the cars. I go back to crushed velvet covered seats and rattan
appointments.
Anything you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank
You
