Listers
I'm trying to find out more about a group of CB&Q tanks cars #150107-150121
which were on the roster at least between 1929 and 1932.
These 10,000 gallon cars had the same dimensions as the TM-3 cars
#150000-150106 (and FW&D #15001-150) which had been acquired in 1911, with an
outside length of 33' but with 100,000 lb capacity as opposed to the 80,000 lb
of the earlier group.
The TM-3 freight car data sheet makes no mention of these cars (presumed to be
15 in total) and appears to ignore them in the overall count of tank cars owned
by the CB&Q. Similarly, there is no suggestion that they were transferred from
FW&D in the late 20's, nor that C&S had any and sold them.
Larger cars than the TM-3's had been purchased since 1911 so it wasn't a
continuation of supply.
There were still 104 out of the original 107 TM-3's on the roster in 1929 as
well as 12 of the "mystery" cars, so it wasn't a renumbering of the original
group for whatever reason.
Were they renumbered into the 230000 series with the other tank cars in 1938?
Can anyone improve on the dates they were on the roster?
Any suggestions?
Rupert
