Barry --
The BRHS has never done an a Bulletin on the B-1 or B-1a mountains. There
are photos scattered in various books, but the quickest and cheapest way to
see lots of photos of these engines in action is to check out the Denver
Public Library's Western History Collection (thousands of photos
digitalized and downloadable for free). Otto Perry's entire collection
(15,000 prints) is there, including many hundreds of CB&Q photos from the
around World War I through the the early 1960s. Search by: "Chicago
Burlington & Quincy AND engine type 4-8-2" -- you'll pull up about good 30
photos of the mountains.
Enjoy.
