I picked up a CB&Q brochure on the first vista dome car, Silver Dome,
at a train show. The illustration indicates that the dome was offset
toward the back of the car. However, most photos and diagrams on the
CB&Q's Budd-produced vista dome cars indicate that the domes were
offset toward the front (the dome/observation/sleeper cars for the CZ
and DZ were exceptions with the domes toward the back of the car in
order to use the forward car space for bedrooms).
Toward which end of the car was Silver Dome's vista dome offset?
Were the seats ever reversed in the car to effectively reverse the
front and back ends? Was Silver Castle set up the same way.
Another question about the Zephyr cars (including flat-tops cars) in
general: were the vestibles usually at the rear or front end of the
car?
Thanks in advance.
