Try using the herald from Microscale set #87-609. This is for early diesel
switchers but is near perfect for the small scotchlite herald on latter day
steam and the borders are a little bigger than the set in Microscales steam
sheet
so it looks a little nicer.
The red/red lead/plumbago roof issue has been bantered around forever. If you
like it, then do it. Considering the lack of color photographic evidence,
until time travel is possible then we'll probably never know which engines got
them and which didn't.
The Dulux Gold (yellow) lettering is what to use. This was on freight and
yard engines. And, correct me if I'm wrong somebody, the Dulux Gold
(bronze/gold)
was used on passenger engines like B-1's.
