> LC has an 1888 copyright copy of a promotional play, " A Parody on
> Mikado," written by Edward J. Smith, set in a railroad station and
> depot gardens on the Burlington Route, with railroad employees and
> passengers as characters. It includes a map of the Burlington Route and
> illustrations of interiors of various train cars, and was copyrighted by
> A. C. Dawes, general passenger agent, Hannibal & St. Joseph and Kansas
> City, St. Joseph and Council Bluffs Railroads.

> Burlington Route to San Francisco, Los Angeles, the Pacific Coast,
> afford a rare opportunity for one to visit Australia, Japan, China and
> India. . ." The broadside is on Japanese paper and is illustrated by a
> large chromolithograph in the aesthetic style depicting cranes with
> fans, cherry tree branches and a bird trailing a "Burlington Route C B &
> Q R R" banner.
