John, On page 50 of The color guide to freight & passenger cars by Mike
Spoor there is a picture of XML-1 #23007 in the mineral red w/yellow DF. It
also has a six pannel door.

Can any one on the list tell me what color the XML-1 box cars #23000-23099
were painted? I was told that they were originally painted Mineral Red but

were painted Chinese Red, is this true? And if they were painted Chinese Red
was the whole car, roof and all painted that color? Any help would be
