Jan,
Bulletin no 24 covers the Burlington Buses.
There is always more than meets the eye.
The Burlington Transportation Company was incorporated in Feb 1929 to
run buses and recover declining passenger traffic. To counter the
growing Grayhound system the National Trailways Bus System was formed in
1935 incorporating the Burlington, Missouri Pacific, Santa Fe bus lines
and a couple of non RR eastern companies. The bus line grew through the
war and was sold to American Buslines in 1946 keeping the Burlington
name untill American went bankrupt in 1951, it emerged from
reorganization as part of Continental Trailways in 1958.
