Coal Mines along the Q in northern Illinois

Hi All-
Does anyone have any information about the coal mines along the Q 
near Briar Bluff in Illinois? The old ROW is still shown on the 
assessment maps. I think the mine was named Black Diamond Coal 
Company and there was rail access, although I am not sure when it was 
abandoned. There was also a coal mine south of Alpha, Illinois right 
on the county line, Schuler Coal Company I think. The track diagrams 
show four sidings servicing that facility. 

Does this "jog" anyones memory? Any information would be helpful!
