Thanks to Russ and Leo for their responses to my question about interchange at Savanna. Three quick additional questions about Savanna in the steam era. 1. Was the yard at Savanna switched from both ends or primarily from the east side? 2. In the steam era, did the switch engine, or road power, serve as the helper for heavy eastbound trains? 3. Am I correct to assume that only one switch engine would have been assigned to Savanna? Thanks, Bob Herrick |
