Interestingly Silver Wave was in the middle of about 12 cars or so.
On the adjacent track was a former GN/or/CB&Q Empire Builder Great Dome
Coach, also in a lineup of 10 or 12 retired cars. The former Great Dome
Coach was also stripped of paint, windows, hardware, etc., awaiting it's
fate. The EB Dome Coaches were the last word in Budd design in 1955, what
with Heywood Wakefield sleepy hollow seats, outside swing hangar trucks,
stainless steel construction, Safety Air Conditioning, etc. Too bad it's
career could not have been as long as the Pioneer Zephyr's!
