Yesterday (Nov. 14) SSS chair car 4521 was interchanged to the Union
Pacific at Milliken, Colorado. I believe that the car will be run to Denver
then shipped out the KP to Kansas City, then to St. Louis, then to Memphis
where they will be transferred to the Norfolk Southern for final shipment to
Huntsville. The car is in a block of passenger cars from the UPRR. Anyone
who has access to the UP customer web site can find out where those cars are
at. The cars are marked thusly,
PPCX 6 ex UPRR 1768 horse transport car, AC&F 1924. This may be the only
remaining horse car in the USA.
PPCX 4, ex UPRR Diner 363, Pullman 1914. This is the oldest
interchangeable car in recent history.
PPCX 1 ex UPRR 6-6-4 sleeper American Rapids.
PPCX 3 ex CB&Q SSS chair car 4521.
A good man could find out where they are and let the rest of the membership
know where they are. Art Mitchell, North Alabama Railroad Museum western
Rep. Art.
