Following is info from an eBay auction - I've spoken with the seller and
he has items he would like to get to the family if any can be found. The
original owner, a Burlington Bus Lines driver from back in the 30's, is now
in a nursing home and not 'with it' plus apparently there are no direct
descendants. Probabably a reach to find anyone but perhaps 1 of you knows
the names from the SW Iowa area. Thanks!
(consider this a follow-up to the BB that featured the Q's busses;
they are also discussed in Overton's "Burlington Route") Gerald Edgar
(The Burlington driver was a Mr. Reynolds)
"I was able to enter a neighbor's house in Downers Grove, IL which was
slated for demolition. An elderly man lived there and the house was in
deplorable condition. He had moved leaving almost everything in the home. I
retrieved several nice antiques and I also rescued boxes of photos, letters,
bible, documents, baby hair, news clippings, diary, etc. that had been
lovingly saved by the gentleman's mother and grand- mother. I am my family
genealogist and it killed me to see those items waiting for the wrecking
ball. So I gathered them together and tried to locate living relatives in
the towns mentioned. After about a week of investigation and many dead-end
long distance phone calls, I've decided to put them on ebay. These folks
came from Villisca and Red Oak, Iowa originally and had the following family
names: Rockwell, Burnham, Reynolds, (Claude, Oliver, Ollie, Claudine, Carol,
Ralph, Claudine, Francis, Dick, Thomas, Calvin, Ella, ). If you know anyone
who is related to these people, please let me know." Monticello Auctions
