Speaking of the 9908, has anyone ever come across any documentation as to why the unit had a fabricated A-1-A Blomberg truck? Was it indeed the prototype for all E unit cast trucks and the Q, being cheap, found a way to build half a locomotive so they could get a bargin, or was it fabricated for light weight and had nothing to do with being a preproduction sample? It wouldn't be out of character for EMC to resell it; they took the 511 and 512 demonstrator box cabs and built two of a kind road switchers for the MP using the trucks, frame and prime movers.....
