For those headed to Galesburg. It looks like BNSF took a little effort to get a
unique engine for display.

Subject: DM&IR 869 to be used on NSSR trains

In a strange turn of events, the DM&IR's newest used locomotive, SD38 869
will be pulling the NSSR's excursion trains for the next week or so.

Why is this happening you ask?

The BNSF's annual Galesburg Railroad Days is coming up and the BNSF wanted
the LSRM's GN NW5 192 for a display piece during the event. But their was a
problem. The museum's DM&IR 193 has been sidelined recently with a major
electrical problem. Without the 193 this left the museum with only one other
operational/FRA compliant engine besides the 192, Soo FP7 2500.

When the BNSF approached the museum last week about getting the NW5 for
Galesburg. The museum said that due to the problems with the 193 they
couldn't let the 192 go, so and basically the BNSF officials asked "if we
find a locomotive to use will you let the 192 go"? To which the museum
agreed.

The original idea was that the BNSF was going to talk to the DM&IR and work
out an agreement to use a SDM, but getting the 869 I guess is the next best
thing they could come up with in the amount of time.
