Heres a true story from the archives. Uncle Bill Wohl was in his 24th year of
train service w/the Q in 1967 and had not missed a single assignment in those
24 years(not one sick day, missed call or "mark me off dead", not one). He
wasn't about to let 27 inches of snow and 3 or 4 ft drfits upset that record.
So he walked from his spread on Bilter road east of Farnsworth Ave.(actually
his property was the farthest east parcel in Kane Co and Dupage was right
next door) to the old Aurora depot on So. Broadway. A distance of something
like 4 or 5 miles! He arrived on time for his dinky and was a little suprized
to find that none of his crew was there!

P.S.-When he retired in the fall of 1973 the string was unbroken at 30 years
w/o a missed assingment. Think about that; 59 years of age in 1967 and
walking thru that blizzard to get to work?!
