Its deer season and here in Kendall Township of Kendall County,IL the deer
slugs are flying and deer falling. It brought back a memory from my youth of
hunting in Eola yard(yup its a fact, did it many a time). You see Uncle Ray
worked at the West Rip and knew everbody,he also had a craving for rabbit and
pheasant on a regular basis. So on many a Saturday and Sunday winter morning
it was off to the yard for a day of tromping around while the place bustled
with the usual activity. If a pheasant went airborne and happened to fly
toward a string of cars that didn't hamper the shot. Enjoyed many meals
furnished from the high grass and scrub growth that used to be plentiful east
of the wagon bridge and around the "old east and west rips". Never got
stopped, questioned or in any trouble. Now today if you were to pull off the
road near a grade crossing to take a photos of trains the gumshoes will have
in cuffs shortly!
