Hello List members,

It appears that no major decal manufacturer offers a HO scale CB&Q
decal set that includes the white HYDRAULIC CUSHIONING lettering used
on Burlington box cars built from 1963 to around 1967 painted in the
Chinese Red scheme (using photos in the Morning Sun CB&Q Color Guide
book as my reference). The first use of this lettering in the CB&Q
Color Guide was an "italic" block gothic version shown on page 57
with CB&Q 47251 (Class XM-3B) using the same font included in
Champion decal set HB-336 for their CUSHION UNDERFRAME lettering.

After this, the style appears to have changed to the much more
common "upright" block gothic style which was used on 40, 50 and 60
foot box cars. Microscale appears to offers it in black for their
insulated CB&Q box car set 87-485 (along with the italic versions -
possibly in white), but I've never seen an actual copy of this decal
set so I might be wrong. My old Microscale catlog doesn't indicate
what color is used and their web site doesn't have any details
either. Does any list member know whether HYDRAULIC CUSHIONING decal
lettering is available in HO scale?

If it isn't, perhaps the BRHS might like to consider producing a CB&Q
set for white HYDRAULIC CUSHIONING lettering - perhaps with one set
of the italic version and several of the upright version.

Thanks for any help you might provide.
