A= automatic interlocking
B= bulletins-general orders
D= not shown
F= fuel
I= manual interlocking
J= junction
K= standard clock
O= agent or operator
R= train register
T= turntable or wye
U= railroad crossing not protected by signals or gates
W= water
X= crossover
Y= yard limits
Z= track scales

I realize that some of these symbols may have changed over the years from the 
time period mentioned, but just for the record.
