I just wanted to express my thanks for all the info about the recent info about
this combine and the mixed train it was a part of. I'll be looking forward even
more than usual to the new calendar. The info has also given me justification
to use one of NW2s to power the train if I ever need or desire to. (Marshall
had suggested this to me a couple of years ago as an educated guess. Nice to
know that you were right once again, Marshall?) I'll wait for some of the
pictures and then start hunting for a Rivarossi car to bash. I already need two
RPOs for my Zephyr Rocket.
I had one follow up question to what Archie said about the gravel train. Does
anyone know if, when it came north to Keokuk, that it brought the gravel cars
up from La Grange or did it leave them somewhere before continuing north? If
these cars did come north, were they empty (which seems more likely, since why
haul that extra weight?) or were they, in fact, loaded?
Thanks again. I'm always amazed at what turns up and makes it so much easier to
capture a bit of history from forty years ago and half a continent away.
