The distinctly usually-all-heavyweight Exposition Flyer had as its regular assigned power E5s for many years, especially after the Burlington increased its schedule in (?) late 1941 to compete directly with the Milwaukee's new Midwest Hiawatha to Omaha. Occasionally, one would instead see a Hudson on the front end, and on extremely rare occasion, two Hudsons- but these were exceptions. The Exposition Flyer was a heavy train that in its day had one of the most demanding of all schedules. I do not have access to my timetables, but if memory serves, for awhile the Expo's schedule Aurora-Galesburg either equalled or beat the DZ.
