With little fanfare, the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad completed its
double-track mainline between Galesburg, Illinois and Creston, Iowa early
this evening. B&MRR CEO, David Lotz, drove the last spike as the small work
crew looked on. There will be a formal Gold Spike ceremony scheduled so
that representatives from the C&RM, El Dorado & El Reno, Southern Pacific,
St. Louis Southern and St. Louis Union Terminal railroads can be in
attendance.
All that is left is to complete the wiring of the drops to the buss to have
trains running by the July 8 deadline, the start of the Gateway 2001
National NMRA Convention. Those of you who will be in St. Louis for the
