It is not a smooth runner, its run is jerky and it cannot go low speed
without stopping at some point.

The only way it runs smooth is when you turn it upside down... (this is
how some people might try to convince you it is a smooth runner). It
does not handle turnouts very well.

You may try lubrication as well as collecting current from the tender to
improve its run, this helps to some extent.

Does anyone out there have experience with the N-scale version of 
Bachmann's 4-8-4 Northern loco? I'm curious as to how well they run, 
particularly with DCC decoder installed. Thanks in advance.
