Citing David Myrick's "New Mexico Railroads" p. 160-61:
Line opened about 1906-7 (no precise date given) "...traffic was so light
that for years only triweekly services was provided..." Coal, coke and
lumber supported daily mixed trains on StLRM&P west end between Raton to Ute
Park. Des Moines line abandoned 1936 (p. 165).

Yes, but apparently in some places you might see two ROWs. Myrick p. 163
says the Santa Fe, Raton & Des Moines graded its last 31 miles from Wallace
to Des Moines roughly parallel to the StLRM&P but never put down rail. The
StLRM&P grade and bridge piers over the Canadian River also are visible from
I-25 south of Raton.
