Kable bros. printing was/is at the end of the Mt Morris branch.Cars were
runaround so engine was on leading end back to Oregon.
General Mills at West Chicago was(for all practical purposes, though not
absolutely)at the end of the West Chicago branch. There was a a 3 track yard
for switching and for run-around moves.
For modeling purposes you could terminate the Fox River branch at Wedron
Silica and use the many industry tracks or pass for running around the train.
Another spot could be the end of the Sterling/Rockfalls branch and instead of
going downtown to the CN&W just terminate at the Rockfalls 3 (or was it 4 trk
yard?)
Or how about the Baker main that ended at the feed mill at Baker with the
run-around move there (just the main and the runaround{industry trk}).
Or the the grain elevator At Catherine(Burgess JCt) that was Off the other
end of the stubbed Baker Main?
Or the brick yard at Lowell?
And of course "drops" could be done at any location to get the cars on the
trailing end of the engine (try that in 1/87 scale).
Oh and don't forget the foundry that was the end of the line at West Batavia
for many years.
