Just back from St Louis so I don't know what's been said about the 1522 being trapped in Hannibal MO. I managed to shoot the north bound trip Sat before the Cards game started. Good thing because they had to cancell the rest of the trips because of this derailment Terry AT 1222 CT, SPRINGFIELD DIVISION, HANIBAL SUBDIVISION, THE CREW OF TRAIN M-MEMGAL1-29 REPORTED THAT THEIR TRAIN HAD STRUCK A DIRT SLIDE BETWEEN MP 17.0 AND 17.5. THIS INCIDENT RESULTED IN DERAILMENT OF ALL THREE LOCOMOTIVES, 02 ON SIDE & 16 HEAD CARS JACKKNIFED IN A PILE. CREW REPORTED NO INJURIES BUT WAS TRANSPORTED FOR OBSERVATION AND RELEASED WITH BRUISES ONLY. THE CAUSE FOR THIS "EARTH SHIFT" WAS DUE TO A PRIVATE QUARRY DUMPING THEIR OVER BURDEN OR WASTE DIRT NEXT TO THE CREST OF THIS ROADBED CUT. FUEL FROM BOTH LOCOMOTIVES WERE REPORTED TO BE LEAKING INTO THE SOIL WITH APROX 200 GALLONS OF FUEL DIKED AND CONTAINED. LOCAL FIRE DEPT. WAS CONTACTED TO ASSIST ALONG WITH HULCHER TO CLEANUP THE SPILL. A DIKE WAS CONSTRUCTED AS THIS STREAM FLOWS INTO THE MISSOURI RIVER APROX ONE MILE AWAY. HULCHER FROM HIGHLAND ASSISTED WITH 04 SIDE BOOMS, 02 BUCKET CAT'S AND 01 TRACK HOE. ALL ON SCENE BY 1500 CT. RJ CORMAN ALSO WAS CONTACTED TO ASSIST WITH 02 SIDE BOOMS AND 01 FRT LOADER, ETA 1630 CT DAMAGE ESTIMATES: TOTAL $568,000 EQUIPMENT $440,000 TRACK $128,000 AS INFORMATION WEATHER DATA WAS CONTACTED FOR OBSERVATIONS OF WEATHER AROUND THIS AREA. NO PRECIPITATION WAS REPORTED FOR THE LAST 24 HOURS. ETA FOR HAVING THE MAIN TRACK CLEAR OF THE DERAILMENT IS EARLY AM 10-01 ETA FOR RETURNING THE MAIN TRACK BACK IN SERVICE IS AT 1800 CT 10-01 AS INFORMATION 18 TRACK PANELS AND 05 LOADS OF ROCK WILL BE UTILIZED.
