Several folks have asked for an update on the construction of the B&MRR, so
here we go!
During a weekend trip to the BRHS Spring Meet in Rochelle, the Treasurer
authorized purchase of 42 assorted used freight cars and one of Bob Page's
awesome models of the concrete Galesburg coaling tower. Trackwork was
realigned to incorporate the tower in the Galesburg yard. With the grading
completed, the B&MRR crew began laying track from the west end of the
Galesburg staging yard up the first loop of the oval helix on Friday the
5th. The crew will continue to erect the second of four loops of the helix
and begin laying track in the staging yard starting at 7:00 the 12th.
I should point out that the B&MRR is one of four NEW layouts under
construction for the 2001 NMRA National Convention. There will be over 50
layouts open for tour in the St. Louis are during the convention in July
8-15 in 2001. Check this link out for more information:
