Tom,
I think the photos are at the Savanna waycar tracks. It appears to me the photographer is standing on the roundhouse/waycar track lead(note the shiny rails). Also note there are three tracks (right for Savanna) for waycars & then the former RIP tracks with the company service cars on them. Again right for Savanna . I think the shots are looking almost due south across the west end of the Q yard(often not occupied by cars) and off in the distance is the swampy area between the Q mains and the Milw Nifa branch.
The slate sided building also appears in a Savanna photo in a fan trip with motor car 9845 on pg 2 of a Savanna search in the members only section of the BRHS site photo section.
Im thinking these photos are early to mid 70’s after the RIP track was closed because of the condition of the slate sided building. I think it was the RIP track locker room/office. There’s a nice Savanna yard blueprint plan in the photos section that documents the above points.
And yes i applied some long ago memories from being right there on that roundhouse lead a few times.

There are two slides of CB&Q waycars right now on eBay that say they were taken at Savanna. They were taken by Mark Llanuza, who I was told worked for the MILW as their photographer. He took lots of slides at Savanna, mostly MILW, some Q, so things do add up that it might be Savanna. But what confuses me is that with the layout of the CB&Q Savanna yard (which I model) I can't imagine where or how you could photograph the Q waycars there without having the MILW yard or the CB&Q in the background. If you photograph the waycar tracks from the south side, you'll have the MILW yard in the background. If you photograph from the north side you'll have the Q yard in the background These slides both have wide open fields in the background. So is this Savanna? Am I missing something.
