Oh, that is sad news. Bill and I were in the two grades at Downers Grove High School. We rode fan trips together on the "Q" and the B&O. His dad got us into hidden places, like the Eola roundhouse and the Robey Street B&O roundhouse in Chicago. 

Oh, that is so sad.

All - CB&Q historians lost a good friend this past June 2nd when Bill Barber had his ticket punched for the big roundhouse in the sky.  Myself and his lifelong friend Bob Campbell are gathering information on Bill's early years growing up alongside the triple track raceway in Suburban Territory, riding 4960 and 5632 fan trips during his high school years, plus his later sales engineer career with EMD that saw him helping to introduce SD70MAC diesel locomotives with AC traction to the BN.  Bill will always be remembered for being a co-founder of what had evolved into today's BRHS Flickr Section featuring nearly 50,000 images within the Group's web page. If any of you want to contribute memories or photographs of Bill for possible use within a memorial article, please contact me direct no later than Sunday, August 10th.
