Thanks for jogging my memory. There was also a retired C&S passenger car which was given a herald.

I found a report in the Railroad Gazette of 1887 stating that the Burlington Route herald was painted on the side of its passenger cars. I cannot recall ever seeing a photo showing this – photos of that period are rare - but I wonder if anyone on the List has seen one.
