There was quite a line change at DeSoto.  I would have to get out my LaCrosse Division maps and do some research, but as I recall the original track was relocated in 1915 when the second track was added.  At DeSoto, there is a somewhat curvy road through town that is roughly parallel to State Highway 35 and several hundred feet east of the highway, and I believe the original line was located very close to, if not on, that road.

There also used to be a spur track into town from the north end, and the original line was on the alignment of the spur track.

I have a pair of old postcards that show the Q track alignment through De Soto as being curved through town. However, the photos I have, and looking at satellite images, the tracks are straight through town. I’m trying to find out why they show this major difference.
