Dave - IF the mouth is shaped in the size of a hex bolt head, the tool looks like a hex bolt remover to me.  You've place a bar through the slot to give you extra leverage when twisting - Louis

I've attached a photo of a tool in the late John Lewis' collection that I'm not familiar with.  Is there someone here that can tell me what it is and/or used for?  The hex dimension is 15/16".
